Kijinmaru Kunishige Deluxe Koshirae

Historical Background Kijinmaru Kunishige, a master swordsmith of the Edo period, crafted blades that became the stuff of legend. Among his most renowned admirers was Saito Hajime of the Shinsengumi, who wielded one of Kunishige’s extraordinary creations. The swords he forged were not merely tools of combat but works of art, often inscribed with “摂津住池田鬼神丸国重”. The Kanji 鬼, meaning "demon," which inspired this Koshirae.  Specifications In addition to the standard features of Kijinmaru Kunishige Koshirae, this special version features the extraordinarily huge Kurigata with the Oni's face and Kuwagata-shaped Kojiri. On the Tsuka, the high-quality black leather cord is wrapped over the selected stingray skin with navel knots. The Saya lacquer is Kanshitsu Ishime, fine black matte finish. Black and white two tones of color Sageo represents days and nights. Silver-plated brass Menuki with Onigawara theme Tsukagashira with demon's face theme.  Features A sand-casted, reinforced zinc/aluminum alloy blade with reproduction of Kunishige's signature O-Midare Hamon, weighs approximately 830 grams without the Saya(for 2.45 Shaku). Proudly made in Japan. *Iaito are made with an aluminum-zinc alloy blade and cannot be sharpened.
